Christmas Decorated Tiny House

Today, we’ll be looking at Luanne’s Christmas-decorated tiny house. She’ll tell us about her decision to downsize and the benefits it has given her. Luanne’s tiny house can be found in one of the most beautiful tiny houses villages in the country located in Newport, TN.

Choosing to Downsize

Luanne recollects being fascinated by tiny houses from the beginning. She knew from the outset that she wanted to live in a tiny home. She says, “I didn’t know the right size for me. But I was intrigued about living in a space that only has what you need.”

It was easy to let go of all her stuff, which she found liberating. Luanne watched many YouTube videos and discovered that she loved the tiny homes designed by Randy Jones, who is helping to build communities in the area.

The House

This house was purchased for less than $79,000. From the moment Luanne made her first deposit to the day she moved in, it took about a year. It’s been a little over a year since she moved in. She is not yet in her permanent lot. Renters in this community pay $200 per month, and it costs about $25 more per month to get water, and they then pay their electric bill. This is an incredible deal. It’s great that Luanne retired and can now live off her Social Security benefits.

Because Luanne wanted the siding to feel natural, she chose lap siding for her house’s exterior. To make the trim pop, she chose white trim and black metal roofing. It measures 10 feet in width by 28 feet in length and 13 feet high.

The Main Living Space

After staying in an 8.5 by 19-foot house for a weekend, Luanne realized that she wanted something bigger for her permanent home. She chose a smaller, tiny house when the house that was 10-feet wide became available. It was perfect at 28 feet, and she loves it!

Because Luanne was a Seattle native for 23 years, they decorated their tiny house with a Seahawks banner. Although she doesn’t decorate often, she loves Christmas. To ensure that there was a lot of light coming in, she designed the house with nine windows that let light in from all directions. She used Cedar Shakes in the Dormers to add some texture and variation to the siding.

The Kitchen

The main living space is great for dinner parties and craft days. Luanne has made many wonderful friends, and it’s great to get people together. The windows opposite the front door allow you to feel more open and spacious when you enter the house.

Let’s go into the kitchen. Luanne’s pantry is great for extra storage, and Bentley, her dog, also has his own food storage drawer. All the pots and pans are in the corner cupboard. If Luanne were going to do something different, she would not have put the cooktop on the countertop. Instead, she has a portable one she can lift out that will leave the countertop uncluttered.

The toaster oven is what Luanne uses most. It can be used as a dehydrator or an air fryer. It also has a microwave, which is really useful. She saw the idea of putting a shelf across the windows in another tiny house and loved it. It looks great and gives her more storage space. It’s great that they added a drop sink.

The Loft

Luanne’s Loft is her work area. This is where she eats and does crafts. This wonderful antique table was found in the next town. You’ll find the mini split, which provides heat and cooling, just above her Loft. A little space heater is located in her bathroom that she uses when she takes a shower.

The Bathroom

Luanne’s house has a very large bathroom. When she was designing it, she wanted the stairs to go up the back. Her biggest concern was that her washer/dryer combo would not fit under the stairs, but it worked perfectly.

She has on-demand water, and a 36-inch shower in her condo, which feels so spacious. The carpenter who built the stairs was amazing.

Financial Freedom

The best thing about tiny living is not only how it simplifies your daily life, but also the financial freedom it provides. It’s amazing how many times Luanne has just sat down and looked at her house. Now, she wants to thank tiny homes for making tiny house living affordable. It’s a miracle! She can’t believe it has happened. Thanks to them, she has this sweet little cottage, her life’s dream.
